Monday Mayhem – Overwhelmed, Overjoyed, Over the Moon

Is it possible that anyone missed this?

It’s been a fairly surreal week.

LOVE GAME was my 35th release, but my first to be available in brick and mortar stores. It was also the first time I took a release day off work. I spent the morning, spamming you all online, registering to attend RWA in Denver, and generally making sure my links and such were working. Then Fodder and I went out for lunch and to hunt it down in the wild.

I admit I got a little misty when I saw it. I still get a little keyed up thinking about it. Don’t tell him I told you, but Fodder did too.

The release was accompanied by some of the most AMAZING reviews. I have to admit that in recent years I have become one of those authors…the ones who beg for reviews (because we need them to sell books), but try not to read them. Because while the bad ones are indubitably soul-crushing, even the best review can get into an author’s head.

I have to admit, I’ve been reading those I come across on LOVE GAME, and I am thrilled to know that it’s connecting with readers.

I’ll post some links here because these are a thrill for me.

So, yeah, it’s been a great week.

It’s also been an awful week.

The second week of February always is for me. Friday, February 9, 2018 was the 20th anniversary of my dad’s passing. Sunday, February 11th was the 2nd anniversary of mom’s.

So yeah, there’s been some Kleenex expenditure, but despite the racier aspects of my writing, I think my parents (inveterate bookworms themselves) would have been proud to see a book I produced on the shelf.

But THANK YOU. I hope I’ve made you proud, too. I appreciate your support, your enthusiasm, and the steadfast encouragement.

Without you, I’d just be tossing words out there into the void. With you, I am seeing my dreams come true one by one.

  1. I have no doubt your parents would be incredibly proud of you, just as I am. You’re out there, baby, and I’m lovin’ every minute of it! I know this past week had its tremendous ups and downs, but you made it through. You achieved one of your greatest dreams, and I’m even more amazed by you. I wish you nothing but the best, and to keep kickin’ ass like Kate Snyder! xoxo

  2. Relish in those positive reviews because you deserve every one of them! When I get back I hope to track your book down in a Canadian store. If I can’t, I’m going to insist they order you in! I’ve already read the ebook (of course!) but I’m going to need a paperback copy too! I may need extras to hand out!

  3. You should be very proud of this book. It really resonates in this day and age. It most definitely is a proud moment to see it on a bookshelf and I didn’t even write the thing. You deserved each of these reviews.

  4. “But these stories don’t mean anything
When you’ve got no one to tell them to…”
    – So says Brandi Carlile.(And me.)

There will always be an audience for your stories. We will always gather ’round, eager to hear you spin another tale of love and loss, strength and despair, happiness and Contentment. (See what I did there?) You deserve every glowing review you get (and more!) for the talented way you can put words together and create new characters to love. What you do is extraordinary and important and you totally deserve balloons and a coffee cake on your birthday.

The real life losses hurt. I hope that having such wonderful things happen during an otherwise dark week helped to balance the happy and sad a little bit more this time.

    Congratulations on your well-deserved recognition!
