Monday Mayhem – Whatcha doin’?

Whatcha doin’?

I can tell you, I haven’t been doin’ much. I’ve been having an odd sort of summer. Still unemployed. Still not heartbroken over said unemployment. I’ve been enjoying my summer off. It’s the first summer off from work or school I’ve had since 1984, so I’m not feeling too guilty about it.

Okay, I am, but that’s only because I am a Catholic semi-workaholic whose identity is tied pretty closely to external indicators of success.

Yeah.

So, anyhoo, I’m trying to enjoy the time off. Lots of time with Fodder and Sally. I have been working out each day, and continuing my yoga and meditation practices.

But I have to admit, I haven’t been writing much.

Like, hardly at all. I have no excuse, because I certainly have the time. The only thing I can think is that my lack of productivity is tied to the identity issue mentioned above.

I have been spending a lot of time with #Rover, as those of you who follow me on Facebook and Twitter know.

As a matter of fact, my little friend will be attending the Romance Writers of America conference with me, only in a 2D version. #FlatRover

I am working on edits and revisions for DOUBLE PLAY (Love Games #3) and have set a release date of November 1, 2018. I figure loosing Avery and Dom’s story on the world will be a good way to kick off my birthday month.

And, in my quest for a little inspiration, I’ve been toying with a chapter of Gilmore Girls fanfic. It’s been slow going, though. Hard to believe I used to crank out one of these every day or two.

So, that’s what I’ve been doin’. What about you? Whatcha doin’ this summer?

  1. I always struggle with the same thing when I’m off in the summers. Having too much free time usually results in me not using it to my best advantage. However, this summer I have a book to finish, and that baby WILL be finished!

I can’t wait to see you and flat Rover! I think RWA will rev us up and boost our productivity when we return. Outside of the writing, I’m playing soccer most days, tennis a couple days a week, ping pong, dodgeball, and joining a new dragon boat team for another festival later in August. There will be more family time in August, too, and yeah, writing. Gotta do that writing thing….

  2. Yay! I didn’t know you had a release day set Double Play. I still need to read book 2 but I have started out this summer basically giving my mom’s house badly needed attention. Pretty much every day after work and on the weekends I have been at my mom’s house painting, sanding, power washing, planting, spreading, cutting, sweeping, cleaning, staining and trips to Home Depot and the garbage dump.
Very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend all this time with my mom and make her happy. So, so far this summer has been productive. Looking forward to taking a few days actual holidays this week to see the beautiful historic town of Quebec City. Never been to Old Quebec and I am really looking forward to giving my body and hands a bit of a rest.

I am glad you are getting some time to yourself too. You deserve it.

  3. First off, I love the cover for Double Play. I am very excited to read it. Secondly, yay for L/L fic. I don’t read it as much as I used to but I still go back to re read favorites. Forgot to mention that I read the 4th of July one the other day. Ohhh. Ahhh.
As far as productivity goes I’d say that it’s more of staying focused on the exercise thing. Weight wise it is slow going but I am seeing results and I actually feel bad when I don’t walk or bike.
I’ve been doing the Betty Crocker thing since the garden is taking off. So far pickles, pickles, and more pickles. Later it will be tomatoes. Made some zucchini bread last night.
Have fun with Flat Rover and Jewels.

  4. I’ve been super busy preparing for some house guests this week. Considering I’m not the best housekeeper, it’s been hard at times. But I’ve been better about getting rid of things that I no longer need. In the middle of this, I had to run my church for three months while the Rector was on his much needed sabbatical. It was weird, but I’m proud that nothing imploded while I was in charge.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your sabbatical, you’ll find your footing soon enough. It may wind up being the best thing that’s ever happened to you. Have patience.

Looking forward to a GG fanfic whenever it happens.
