The winner of the Love Letters Volume 1: Obeying Desire audiobook is: Laurie! Congratulations! There’s another chance to win below, so make sure you read through to the bottom!

Today’s post comes for H is for Hotshot – my contribution to Love Letters Volume 2: Duty to Please (coming THIS WEEK from Carina Press). Luke Whitehawk is a veteran smoke jumper. Tara Ferris is the hot young helicopter pilot determined to drive him crazy-in more ways than one. In this bit, Tara is trying to convince Luke that taking a chance on her is no riskier than leaping from a plane into flames.

****

“You taught me everything I know about keeping my feet on the ground. Now let go and let me teach you how to fly.”

“You’re jumping into the fire.”

“You do it every day, and it makes me burn.” He tried to retreat but Tara held her ground. She wouldn’t allow him to run when they were so damn close. She couldn’t. “If you pull back now, I want you to remember this the next time you call me ‘little girl’—I’m not the one running away, you are.”

I’m not running away, either. I’m running straight into Luke’s arms…or yours. I haven’t decided yet. 😀 Awesome eight, Maggie!

Ooo…. You tell him, Tara! I love a heroine that isn’t afraid to go after what she wants.
