One of the more painful parts of being a writer involves the dreaded synopsis. This weekend I wrote one, therefore today I will share eight sentences from a work almost in progress. Here’s what I have started for the sequel to The Last First Date. The working title is First Shot at Forever.
Langley Sheppard’s Valentine’s Day isn’t going quite the way he planned. When he called his girlfriend of six weeks, Jessica Vickers, she said she was ready for their date. But when he knocks on her apartment door, he’s greeted by a flash of long, bare leg and the sight of the woman he loves dressed in nothing but his old patrolman’s uniform shirt and hat. He doesn’t have to wonder how she swiped it because Jessica confesses. She broke into his house and stole it right out of his closet. After she snooped through all his stuff.
Instead of feeling violated that she invaded his space, he’s excited. This is the first time Jessica has blatantly gone out of her way to show that she thinks about him as much as he does her, and the first time any woman has dangled a pair of pink padded handcuffs in front of him, demanding he take her into custody.
Want to find out how Lang and Jessica met? The Last First Date is available as part of the Harlequin-E Contemporary Boxed Set, or pre-order the single title (coming September 1, 2014)!
