Weekend Writing Warriors – 11/23/14

This is it! The whole Hot nights in St. Blaise series will be available in a boxed set later this week!

I’ve been sharing bits and pieces from the series all month and today I have 8 lines from book #8, August Awakening – A 2014 Passionate Plume finalist and the cover shot that graces the whole boxed set!

“Chunky Monkey girls don’t fool around when it comes to matters of the heart. You’d better be careful.”

“Huh?” He blinked, taken aback by Doreen’s dire warning.

“It’s the bananas, I guess.” She tossed off a shrug as if he was supposed to be keeping up. “I still say any woman who wants to shackle herself to one man is bananas, but you can’t tell a Chunky Monkey girl anything.” A small, sly smile tilted her lips.

August Awakening

The only things Jennifer Clyburn admits being addicted to are Caramello bars, shoe sales, and diet cherry Cokes from the Sonic. But there is one advantage to being ordered to attend alcohol awareness classes—she gets to spend a good hour each week ogling local bad boy, Alex Stephenson.

Once the crowned prince of St. Blaise, Alex grew up spoiled rotten and cocky as hell. The world was his oyster up until the day everything spun out of control. The red Corvette he got for his eighteenth birthday was a total loss. So was the sixteen-year-old girl in his passenger seat.

Ten years later, scarred and broken, Alex is back in St. Blaise leading the local recovery meetings and hoping to spare someone the guilt and grief he’ll carry with him the rest of his life.

Jenny Clyburn seems to be the kind of good-time girl he used to love, but he’s smart enough to recognize the demons that drive her. Her smart mouth is temptation incarnate, and her docile nature a siren song. Unable to resist, Alex takes it upon himself to teach her the best ways to master her impulses and surrender to that which she can’t control.

  1. I am not at all a romance reader, but this is such a cute little snippet I can’t keep from smiling. The conversation sounds like it could have been pulled out of real life (and makes me wonder a bit whether it was). Thanks for sharing!
